ELEVATE LEX

A Creative + Civic Home
for Lexington

Lexington has long been rich in artistic talent-but poor in infrastructure. Elevate LEX will provide a permanent, professional-grade home for rehearsal, performance, education, and community life.

WE ENVISION

  • Dedicated rehearsal rooms and private studios for ensembles, students, and independent artists

  • A professional Studio Theatre (200-250 seats) with full backstage support (wing space, fly space, dressing rooms, and green room)

  • Sprung floors for ballet and dance-serving both training and professional us

  • Education-centered spaces for after-school programs, workshops, and outreach partnerships

  • Community-access rooms for civic groups, nonprofits, and neighborhood organizations

  • A central, walkable location near downtown and the University of Kentucky

THE NEED

  • Overbooked

  • Cost-prohibitive

  • Ill-suited for small nonprofits, independent artists, schools, and touring groups

  • Elevate LEX will fill this gap with an adaptable arts-and-civic hub that strengthens both cultural growth and community life

WHY NOW

Today in Lexington:
  • Ballet companies rehearse in churches and gyms
  • Opera and choral ensembles compete for limited studio rentals
  • Students and schools lack dedicated rehearsal and outreach spaces
  • Civic groups have no permanent gathering place downtown
  • Touring productions scramble for temporary solutions
  • There is no permanent home for the broader creative and civic community.
  • The moment to act is now
